with this selection of recent works, runa ruckstuhl shifts the already blurred boundaries between fashion, photography and art in a somnambulistic way. having used her experience both in front of and behind the camera since her earliest youth, she can also build on a wealth of experience in dealing with identity-structuring narratives in social networks and incorporate them in constantly changing variations. as a master of staging herself and others, her split-second changes from tongue-in-cheek manipulation to disarming innocence are fluid. choosing the circus as the location for her photographic exploration, tinged with its diverse and transfiguring memories and associations, disguises ruckstuhl’s strategy on the one hand, while at the same time revealing a deep insight into her critique of societal codification.

Mit dieser Auswahl aktueller Arbeiten verschiebt Runa Ruckstuhl traumwandlerisch die ohnehin schon unscharfen Grenzen zwischen Mode, Fotografie und Kunst weiter. Seit ihrer frühesten Jugend, die Erfahrungen sowohl vor als auch hinter der Kamera nutzend, kann sie darüber hinaus auch auf eine reichhaltige Erfahrung im Umgang mit identitätsstrukturierender Narration in den sozialen Netzwerken aufbauen und diese in stetig wechselnden Variationen einbringen. Als Meisterin der Inszenierung des Selbst und anderer sind ihre sekundenschnellen Wechsel von augenzwinkernder Manipulation zu entwaffnender Unschuld fließend. Den Zirkus als Ort ihrer fotografischen Auseinandersetzung zu wählen, behaftet mit dessen vielfältigen und verklärenden Erinnerungen und Assoziationen, verschleiert Ruckstuhls Strategie einerseits und gibt gleichzeitig einen tiefen Einblick in ihre Kritik gesellschaftlicher Verkindlichung frei.
