reality and imagination embrace each other in an infinite game and the question of where the sea ends and the beach begins is nonsensical in view of the waves constantly teasing the sand. in a wild parcours, starting from a painterly, haptic position, august zimmermann sifts through the digital accuracy of his vision of spatial representation. the composition presented here, consisting of three decades of excessive engagement with the idea and variation of surface and space, is all the more unclear in the viewer’s direct dialogue with zimmermann’s cosmos in its concrete, temporal location, since these in turn refer to pictorial constructivist variants of the last five decades. thus a cycle is created whose progression finds neither beginning nor end and in this movement implies painting, graphics and architecture simultaneously in their digital as well as analogue basis.

Realität und Imagination umtanzen sich in unendlichem Spiel, und die Frage, wo das Meer endet und der Strand beginnt, ist unsinnig anhand der unentwegt den Sand neckenden Wellen. In einem wilden Parcours, ausgehend von einer malerisch, haptischen Position, durchforstet August Zimmermann die digitale Akkuratesse seiner Vision räumlicher Darstellung. Die hier vorliegende Komposition, bestehend aus drei Jahrzehnten exzessiver Auseinandersetzung mit Idee und Variation von Fläche und Raum, ist im direkten Dialog des Betrachters mit Zimmermanns Kosmos in ihrer konkreten zeitlichen Verortung umso unklarer, da dieser sich seinerseits wiederum auf bildnerisch-konstruktivistische Varianten der letzten fünf Jahrzehnte bezieht. So entsteht ein Kreislauf, dessen Abschreitung weder Anfang noch Ende findet, und in dieser Bewegung Malerei, Grafik und Architektur sowohl in ihrer digitalen als auch analogen Basis gleichzeitig impliziert.
